Distilled at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Kentucky, this release has been produced as part of their experimental collection range of bottlings they have created. This particular release has been created using an old method of make 'sour mash bourbon' which is done by cooking & cooling the mash to standard but then allowing it to be able to sit and become sour before they add the yeast which starts the fermentation process. This process was quite lengthy and labour intensive which is why they have updated processes over the years. This expression entered the cask at 125 proof and was laid down in May 2002 for 13 years to mature before being bottled August 2015 at a strength of 45% abv. (90 proof).
