Bruichladdich Distillery - 'Octomore 13.1' Super Heavily Peated Islay Scotch (750ML)

Bruichladdich Octomore 13.1 Islay Single Malt Scotch is as youthful and dynamic as its super-heavily peated predecessors. Distilled patiently from the 2015 harvest of 100% Scottish Mainland barley, this single malt is malted to a stratospheric 137.3 PPM and matured in the highest quality American oak casks.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Sweet nutty smoke with barley sugar, ripe fruit, syrupy apricot, vanilla, honey, and charred oak, plus delicate peat smoke with leather and earthy notes.  

Palate: Viscous texture featuring densely smoked grain, smoked apricot jam, peat embers, gooseberry citrus, and hints of Turkish delight, finishing with oak chips, almonds, and spicy aniseed.  

Finish: Earthy, mossy notes linger with dry peat smoke, balanced by salty-citrus and floral hints of geranium and rose.

Octomore is known for being one of the most heavily peated whiskies in the world, with a phenol content of around 139 PPM (parts per million). Each release focuses on showcasing the depth and complexity that can arise from heavily peated malt.
