Apothia is the fragrance brand of Ron Robinson, a longtime Los Angeles retailer who joined Fred Segal as a buyer in 1975 and brought beauty into what had been an apparel store. His Apothia boutique there helped introduce brands like Byredo and Creed to American shoppers.
Robinson created the first Apothia scent with help from around 100 Fred Segal customers, who tested small vials of oils and gave feedback. The brand was sold at Barneys for 18 years and now reaches many customers online.
