Their story
Death & Co opened on East 6th Street in Manhattan's East Village in early 2007, founded by David Kaplan and Ravi DeRossi. The bar became one of the defining rooms of the craft cocktail revival, and it is where drinks like the Naked and Famous were first poured.
The team later expanded beyond New York, with a bar in Denver's Ramble Hotel, and turned its methods into a series of cocktail books, starting with Death & Co: Modern Classic Cocktails and followed by Cocktail Codex.
How it's made
The Death & Co approach centers on precise specs, carefully chosen base spirits and building new drinks from a small set of classic templates. Its books lay out those formulas so home bartenders can follow the same process, from technique and tools to riffs on each family of drinks.
Why we carry them
If you want to get serious about mixing at home, Death & Co is a smart place to start. Their books break down the bar's methods in a way home bartenders can follow.
