Their story
Rustic Bakery is the story of Carol LeValley and Josh Harris, a married couple who both came from the apparel business. Carol started baking as a hobby, developed her own sourdough starter, joined a bakers' guild, and taught demonstration classes before turning it into a living.
The business began with flatbread crackers designed to pair with Cowgirl Creamery cheeses. It grew slowly from there into a bakery and café in downtown Larkspur, followed by more cafés in Marin and wholesale kitchens that ship its crackers well beyond the Bay Area.
How it's made
The flatbread crackers grew out of Carol's home baking and were shaped from the start to sit alongside good cheese. The bakery still makes them in its own wholesale kitchens, and its cafés cook with seasonal produce from nearby farms.
