Their story
Social Hour comes from two New York bar veterans. Julie Reiner owns several well-known cocktail bars, including Clover Club in Brooklyn, and Tom Macy worked his way up there from barback to head bartender and partner.
Macy wanted a good premade gin and tonic, and the pair felt the canned cocktails on the market fell short. They launched Social Hour in 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, with a gin and tonic, a whiskey mule and a spritz.
How it's made
Social Hour uses real spirits rather than a malt beverage base, with gin and whiskey from New York Distilling Company in Brooklyn. Because fresh juice does not hold up in a can, the team built ingredients like its tonic from scratch and worked with essential oils to keep flavors bright.
