Their story
Brooks Dry Cider is the project of Brooks Bennett, a Bay Area entrepreneur who set out to make a light, clean cider that tastes like apples rather than candy. He launched the brand in 2014, with the first commercial batch made that fall.
Bennett spent about a year working out how to produce it without building his own cidery. He raised the starting money from friends and family and introduced the cider in San Francisco before it spread to wider retail.
How it's made
Fresh-pressed juice from an Oregon orchard, a blend including Fuji, Honeycrisp, Ginger Gold, and Granny Smith, is fermented at a Napa winery experienced with hard cider. The cider is made in an English style and bottled young.
The great thing about the winery I found is that they had experience making hard cider.
Why we carry them
We like Brooks as a cider for people who want something refreshing without the sugar. It is an easy pick for picnics and a good match for salty snacks.
