Their story
Brucato is a San Francisco amaro company started by husband and wife Sierra and James Clark. They loved the idea of amaro but wanted something that tasted of California rather than an imitation of Italy.
They spent more than a year and some 200 test infusions developing their recipes in a small loft in SoMa. The result is a set of amari named for California landscapes: Orchards, Woodlands, and Chaparral. In 2025 they opened Bar Brucato in the Mission District.
How it's made
Botanicals such as apricot, walnut, bay leaf, yerba santa, and cacao are infused in stages into high-proof California grape brandy. The amaro rests for several months in stainless steel with oak, then is diluted, filtered, sweetened, and bottled.
Our featured pick
Woodlands Amaro Liqueur (750ML)
$55.00
Brucato Woodlands’ dominant ingredients are elderberry, cocoa nibs, black fig, and citrus.
Why we carry them
We love having a local amaro that tastes like the coast and hills around us. Try Chaparral in place of herbal liqueurs, or Orchards in a spritz.
