Their story
Distiladora Bonanza is a small, family-run tequila distillery in the highlands of Jalisco. The family is led by matriarch Carmen Villarreal Treviño, and a younger generation, Jesús, Juan Pablo, and Rodrigo López, is behind the Libélula project.
Libélula Joven was created at the distillery for CNI Brands. It is made from blue agave grown by local farmers close to the distillery, where red soil and a seasonal climate produce sweet agave.
How it's made
Libélula Joven blends about 80 percent blanco with 20 percent reposado. The blanco is cooked in autoclaves and run through column stills, while the reposado is cooked in brick ovens, distilled in copper pot stills, and rested in oak. It is made in small batches with no additives or sweeteners.
Why we carry them
Libélula is an approachable, additive-free tequila from a small family operation. We like it as a mixing tequila that still tastes of agave.
