Their story
The Walcher family has owned the Turmbachhof estate in the hamlet of Turmbach, near Appiano in South Tyrol, for nine generations. The estate grows fruit and grapes.
In 1966 Alfons Walcher began distilling spirits there using a traditional double-boiler method. The distillery has since built a range of grappas, fruit spirits, and herbal spirits drawn from the orchards and vineyards of the area.
How it's made
Walcher distills in a double-boiler setup, a gentle, traditional method. Grappas draw on local grapes such as Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, and fruit spirits are made from orchard fruit typical of South Tyrol.
Why we carry them
Alpine fruit spirits are some of the most precise in the world, and Walcher is a good place to start. We like a small pour after dinner.
