Their story
Giuseppe Caffo, from Santa Venerina on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, founded the company in 1915. The family later made its home base in Limbadi, in Calabria, where its historic production site still stands.
Caffo is still family run. Its best-known product is Vecchio Amaro del Capo, a Calabrian herbal liqueur now poured well beyond southern Italy, and the range also includes grappa, gin, and traditional liqueurs.
How it's made
Caffo makes its spirits in its own facilities, and grows some raw materials itself. It works with Calabrian ingredients such as licorice, citron from the Riviera dei Cedri, lemons, and chili, using hot and cold infusions for liqueurs and distilling grape pomace for grappa.
Why we carry them
Amaro del Capo is a bright, herbal digestivo that is traditionally served ice cold. We like it straight from the freezer after a big meal.
