Their story
Doc Swinson's grew out of Distillers Way, a custom spirits company in Ferndale, Washington, near the Canadian border. Master blender Jesse Parker, one of the founders of Distillers Way, already had access to barrels from around the world, and a barrel find in 2017 became the brand's first bottling.
That first release found a following among whiskey fans, and the line has grown to more than a dozen bourbons and ryes. In 2025 the team opened its Barrel Lab tasting room in Ferndale. The brand's message centers on curiosity, and its limited releases, like a rye finished in rum and amburana casks, reflect that.
How it's made
Doc Swinson's does not distill. Its whiskeys are distilled in Indiana and Tennessee, aged in the South, then brought to Ferndale, where Parker blends them and experiments with cask finishes such as port, rum, and Brazilian amburana.
That original, first bottling became a cult hit in the whiskey nerd world.
Why we carry them
Doc Swinson's is upfront about being a blender, and the finishes are where it shines. We like their cask-finished ryes for anyone looking for something a little unexpected.
