Their story
Dust Bowl Brewing Co. is based in Turlock, in California's Central Valley. Founder Brett Tate grew up in Turlock, played baseball at Stanislaus State, and taught and coached at local high schools before turning to beer. He named the brewery to honor his family's Oklahoma roots.
Dust Bowl released its first beer, the Hops of Wrath IPA, in 2009, and it is still the flagship. Fellow Central Valley native Brett Honore joined about a year later, and a downtown Turlock taproom followed.
In 2017 the company opened a 30,000-square-foot brewery and restaurant off Highway 99, and it added a taproom in Monterey in 2019.
How it's made
Dust Bowl brews at its own large production brewery in Turlock. The lineup includes about nine year-round beers and a long list of seasonal and specialty releases, sold in cans and on draft.
