Their story

Eden Mill sits in Guardbridge, on the Eden Estuary a few miles from St Andrews in Fife. The Haig family distilled whisky on this spot for much of the 19th century before it became a paper mill, which closed in 2008. Fife businessman Paul Miller brought production back in 2012 with a brewery, and in 2014 added stills, making it Scotland's first combined brewery and distillery.

Brewing on site ended in 2018 and the company now focuses on gin and Scotch whisky. Ownership has changed hands twice: Inverleith LLP became majority owner in 2021, and in December 2025 Scottish entrepreneur Tony Banks acquired the business through Ruby Capital. A larger new distillery on the University of St Andrews Eden Campus has been under construction since 2023.

How it's made

Whisky is made in small batches from Golden Promise barley, with pale, chocolate and crystal malts in the mash, and distilled in a pair of alembic pot stills. The team is known for its gins, including early hopped styles, and fills only a handful of casks each week.

Why we carry them

We like Eden Mill for its sense of place, spirits made where the Haigs once distilled. The gins are a fun way to explore modern Scottish distilling.
