Their story

Eppig Brewing was started by husband-and-wife team Stephanie Eppig and Todd Warshaw, together with brewers Clayton LeBlanc and Nathan Stephens, both formerly of Ballast Point. Their first taproom opened on El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego's North Park neighborhood, and the brewery has since grown to additional locations in the county, including a production brewery in Vista.

The name carries real history. In 1866 Stephanie's great-great-grandfather and his brother opened the Leonhard Eppig Germania Brewery in Brooklyn, which made nothing but lagers in its early years. Bringing the family name back to brewing meant setting a high bar for quality.

How it's made

Lagers sit at the heart of the lineup, including a Vienna lager in the pre-Prohibition tradition, a Festbier and a Japanese-style lager brewed with rice. The brewers also draw on their West Coast background with IPAs, a blonde ale and barrel-aged releases.

If we're putting my family's name on it, I want it to be the best and the highest quality.
Stephanie Eppig, co-founder, to San Diego Magazine (2018)

Why we carry them

We think Eppig's lagers are some of the most quietly impressive beers coming out of San Diego. Start with the Vienna lager and see why a 150-year-old family name still means something.
