Their story
Faccia Brutto was started by Patrick Miller, who was the chef at Rucola, an Italian restaurant in Brooklyn's Boerum Hill. He began by making five-gallon batches of amaro at home and sharing them with local bartenders.
His permits came through at the end of February 2020, just as the pandemic hit, and the brand launched that year. The small Brooklyn team now distributes to several states.
How it's made
Miller refined his recipes by asking bartenders what they didn't like and adjusting through trial and error. The range includes a ruby-red Aperitivo, Amaro Alpino, Fernet Pianta and a Nocino made with foraged black walnuts. He is happy to share every ingredient with anyone who asks.
Balance is what sets us apart
Why we carry them
Faccia Brutto's Aperitivo makes one of our favorite spritzes, and the Fernet is a real treat after dinner. It's proof that great amaro can come from Brooklyn.
