Their story

Hanson of Sonoma is a family project. Brothers Chris and Brandon Hanson had the idea to make vodka from wine grapes, their father Scott joined them, and siblings Darren and Alanna came on board too. The family grew up in Marin County and launched the brand in 2013.

The Hansons tested well over a hundred versions of their classic vodka before settling on a recipe, and one season the whole family harvested grapes themselves at sunrise. Their distillery is in Sonoma, and since 2019 Trinchero Family Estates has handled the brand's sales and distribution in North America.

How it's made

The vodka is distilled from organic grapes grown in the region and run through a copper column still. The family filters its water several ways, and the flavored versions, such as mandarin, cucumber, ginger and espresso, are infused with organic ingredients. The range is USDA-certified organic, gluten-free and non-GMO.

We needed to get the family involved, so we all woke up for sunrise.

Why we carry them

We like having a Sonoma-made, organic vodka on our shelves, and the grape base gives it a soft, round feel. The cucumber version makes an easy summer highball.
