Their story
Lost Republic is a whiskey brand from Healdsburg, in Sonoma County, started by two friends, Matt and Colin, who were both born and raised in the county. Their plan is a distillery and tasting room in a barn above the Healdsburg vineyards.
The name looks back to the California Republic, the unrecognized state that held the land north of San Francisco Bay for a few weeks in 1846 and gave California its Bear Flag. The bottle leans into that story, with a woodcut-style grizzly, an apothecary shape and a golden tag meant to evoke the state's summer hills.
The brand is associated with Dry Creek Distilling Co. and is best known for its straight bourbon and straight rye.
How it's made
Lost Republic bottles a straight bourbon and a straight rye. The founders aim to work with the best locally sourced grain California has to offer.
