Their story
Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day was started in 1999 by Monica Nassif, a former Target speechwriter and publicist who went on to run her own marketing agency. She named it after her mother, Thelma Meyer, a Midwestern homemaker whose no-nonsense approach to housework inspired the brand.
Nassif wanted cleaners that smelled like a garden instead of bleach or ammonia. The line reached more than 20,000 stores before she sold the company to SC Johnson in 2008, which has since taken it worldwide.
How it's made
The soaps and cleaners use plant-derived ingredients and are known for simple garden scents such as basil, lavender and lemon verbena. Seasonal collections add scents like the summer dandelion, tomato and cut grass.
Our featured pick
Lemon Verbena Liquid Hand Soap (12.5OZ)
$7.00
Lemon verbena scented soap has a light, refreshingly mild citrus scent. This tender herb blossoms in early summer and smells bright and new through and through.
I'm a big believer in kicking yourself out before someone kicks you out.
Why we carry them
A bottle of Mrs. Meyer's by the sink makes doing the dishes a little nicer. The basil and lemon verbena scents are our kitchen favorites.
