Their story
Recchiuti Confections is a San Francisco story from start to finish. Michael, a pastry chef and jazz musician, and Jacky, who leads design and retail, met while working in the city's hospitality scene and founded the company in 1997.
In 2003 they opened their flagship shop in the newly restored Ferry Building, and their chocolates are still made in their Dogpatch kitchen. Michael's cookbook Chocolate Obsession followed in 2005, and a 2023 rebrand drew on his love of jazz.
How it's made
Every piece is made by hand in small batches using traditional European techniques and equipment. Early flavors paired chocolate with fresh botanicals like lavender, tarragon and grapefruit, and the Burnt Caramel truffle became the house signature.
