Their story

WhistlePig lives on a 500-acre former dairy farm in Shoreham, Vermont. Entrepreneur Raj Bhakta bought the land around 2007 and set out to make rye whiskey there, working with master distiller Dave Pickerell.

The brand launched in 2010 with a 10-year-old rye sourced from Canada while the farm's own distillery got going. Distilling on site began in 2015, and in 2017 the company released FarmStock, the first whiskey made mostly from its own spirit. Bhakta retired that year and sold his remaining stake in 2019.

How it's made

Around 300 acres of the farm grow rye, and the rest supports maple trees, corn, barley, oak and livestock. Pickerell helped source the first whiskey, design the first blend and design the first pot still. The farm-made whiskeys use grain, water and barrels from the property.

Why we carry them

WhistlePig is a go-to when someone asks us for a bold, spicy rye. It makes a standout Manhattan and is just as good neat.
