A lovely Espadin from the Monterrosa family.
The extensive Monterrosa family is originally from Santiago Matatlán Oaxaca, started by grandfather Pedro and grandmother Andrea and made up of eleven children. All boys except for the youngest one who is the mother of Félix Monterrosa, founder of the Mezcales CUISH cooperative.
From a very young age, Grandpa Pedro learned the art of mezcal distillation from his father. He worked in other people's palenque until he was able to buy his own utensils and set up his palenque. Unfortunately, he died young and his children had to disperse to survive by selling mezcal in different towns.
Now Félix started his own family and together with his mother and sister they built the palenque where their ancestral heritage materializes and they manage to distill the Agua del Sol.
