Buffalo Trace Distillery - 'Kosher - Rye Recipe' Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ML)

In partnership with the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc), Buffalo Trace Distillery produced this Rye Recipe Bourbon Whiskey.

This Kosher spirit was aged in specifically designated Kosher barrels. In order to satisfy Passover requirements, these barrels were sold to a non-Jewish executive in a ceremony witness by a representative from the cRc. After aging for seven years, this Rye Recipe Bourbon was bottled at 94 proof after ensuring the bottling lines were cleaned beforehand and that no contact was made by non-Kosher spirits.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Mild - charred cornbread, sweetened. Smells like bourbon that’s been slightly watered down. Burnt caramel, some rye spice popping out at the end. 

Palate: Spice builds very slowly, like cinnamon spice drop candies. Sweet corn, expired baking spices. Noticeably higher spice than the wheat, yet feels less flavorful overall. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, still lacking some flavour, with spicy clove and black pepper and a nice coating that dries on the palate.

Finish: Classic Buffalo Trace to a T. Yes, it tastes slightly watered down from 90 proof even though it's at 94, but basically it’s Buffalo Trace Bourbon in profile.

The Kosher - Rye Recipe Bourbon is crafted using a mash bill that includes a higher percentage of rye, giving it a distinct spice profile. It is made in accordance with kosher guidelines, making it accessible to those who observe kosher dietary laws. Buffalo Trace is well-regarded for its innovation and quality, and this expression reflects that commitment to excellence.
