Batiste Rhum

Marie-Galante, Guadeloupe. Bottled in Napa, California.

Rhum agricole made from 100% fresh-pressed sugarcane juice, with no added sugar, flavor or color.

The story

Batiste is a rum brand that pairs the island of Marie-Galante, off Guadeloupe in the French Caribbean, with Napa, California. The rum is distilled on Marie-Galante and shipped to Napa, where it is brought to proof and bottled.

The brand has been releasing rum since 2008. Its range runs from an unaged silver to gold and reserve bottlings rested in used rye whiskey barrels.

How it's made

Batiste is a rhum agricole, made from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice rather than molasses, and column distilled on Marie-Galante. The silver is bottled at 80 proof, the gold is aged at least six months and the reserve at least 18 months in used rye barrels, all with no added sugar, flavor, or color.

Why we chose it

We like Batiste as a friendly introduction to rhum agricole, with that grassy fresh-cane character. The silver makes a bright daiquiri.
