Choosing Your Prosecco or Sparkling Wine

The prosecco or sparkling wine you choose will make all the difference in your finished spritz. A superior prosecco is the foundation of your cocktail, and you want a good start upon which to base your restyling.

We offer some of the world's best Prosecco for spritz at The Epicurean Trader, picked exclusively for the crisp bubbles and good dryness. We like Borgoluce and Villa Sandi-fruity flavors with a clean aftertaste.

Dryness is important here because the sparkling wine will help balance out the Aperol's sweetness or the Campari's bitterness so that your cocktail won't be overly sweet or heavy. Of course, bubbles also play a huge role in the production of that light, effervescent texture we all love in the spritz. In our ultimate spritz kit, Prosecco isn't just used to fill out a vessel, rather: it's something more crucial and joins together your spritz and gives it that crisp, refreshing quality and perfect balancing out.

When buying the best Prosecco or sparkling wine for spritz, make sure that it is dry and bubbly, while being of a high premium quality, to really take your cocktail up to that level.

Aperol vs Campari: Which to Choose?

a bottle of Aperol

Deciding between Aperol and Campari for your spritz is really about which one you prefer and which one will give you the atmosphere you're going for. Both are integral components of a spritz, each offering different flavor profiles.

  • For a classic, approachable spritz, Aperol is the go-to choice; it has a light citrusy note and low ABV. If you don't want your drink too aggressive on the palate, with its subtle sweetness balanced by orange and rhubarb, this is it.
  • For anyone wanting to please a crowd or just prefers a more laid-back cocktail, our Aperol Spritz Kit is a great choice.
  • Where Campari is sharper in terms of bitterness, it also presents deep herbal flavors, quite obviously with a sharper edge. Perfect for the sophisticated drinker who likes his drinks more varied and slightly bitter.
  • The Campari Spritz Kit is great for those people who prefer high-biting cocktails and like making a statement.

Tips on How to Get the Perfect Ratio and Build Your Spritz

Three parts Prosecco to two parts bitter liqueur-Aperol or Campari-and one part soda water make for a classic ratio in the spritz. This is what gives the spritz its time-honored thorough- creating harmony between bubbly, bitter, and refreshing.

Ice will chill the drink and keep the flavours crisp. Start by filling a glass with ice. Pour in 3 parts Prosecco, giving your cocktail a light, refreshing background. Add 2 parts of your chosen bitter liqueur. Aperol for a citrusy, sweeter profile and Campari will give you a bold, bitter kick. Finally, top it off with 1 part soda water for that signature spritz fizz.

For a perfect outcome, do not forget to layer the ingredients-start with Prosecco, then the bitter liqueur, and finish with soda water.

This layering allows the flavours of the ingredients to meld together naturally, making it easy to build the perfect spritz each time.

Glassware and Tools for a Professional Finish

glassware & tools

The glassware and tools are just as essential as the ingredients for a professional-looking spritz. If you're going to make the perfect spritz, you want a stemmed wine glass. Not only does it add that slight touch of elegance to your presentation, but the bowl also gives the aromas of the Prosecco and liqueur a chance to open up to one another for a better experience all around.

Our Spritz Kit glassware was designed to show off all the vibrant colors in the drink, whether golden in color from the Prosecco or the high orange or red color given by the Aperol or Campari. Of course, matters when it comes to tools for making spritz. With a jigger, you can be sure that you will get the right measure at 3:2:1 every time around basically keeping your flavors balanced. On the other hand, you have a long bar spoon that is good for gently stirring the drink without disturbing the bubbles and adding it to mix evenly while keeping the cocktail light and refreshing.

Adding the Final Touches: Garnishes and Enhancements

It is the glass with professional equipment that not only makes the spritz look attractive but tastes great too. The attention given to every detail uplifts the drink inside from a simple cocktail and transforms it into a more sensitive experience. Whether you're hosting or spritzing solo, having the right spritz kit gives you the guarantee that it will never be wrong.

The finishing touches on your spritz can take what otherwise might be a pretty basic drink to something phenomenal.

Not only will the traditional garnishes of orange slice and green olive enhance the presentation of your spritz, but they also help release the flavors of this drink. A fresh orange slice sets off citrus notes in Aperol while the brininess of an olive balances out the sweetness of the Prosecco and the bitter liqueur.

For a twist of modernity, get creative with your garnishing spritz cocktails. You might think you can squeeze that lemon wedge in or flip a sprig of rosemary because this is an herbaceous shot of aromatic elements. Grapefruit zest can be great, too, if you're looking for a punch of bitterness, and you want the garnish to pop against the bright hue of the drink.

Varieties of Spritz to Create at Home

Making spritz is so versatile. I love the fact that you can easily add your personal touch to the classic recipe. Some of my favorite spritz variations, are Limoncello Spritz and Elderflower Spritz. Limoncello spritz substitutes Aperol or Campari with a zesty, lemony twist. Just combine 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Limoncello, and 1 part soda water; garnish with a lemon slice. That cool summer spritz idea.

For a more floral flavor, try the Elderflower Spritz. Just substitute the bitter liqueur with elderflower liqueur, using 3 parts Prosecco and 1 part soda water. This is one light, scented cocktail that is refreshing yet an inch sweet-and perfect drink for an outdoor gathering.

For an even richer flavor, substitute the Prosecco with champagne for a luxurious touch, or switch to sparkling rosé for a fruity twist. New liqueurs can be interesting: amaro adds a deep, herbal taste; vermouth is lighter and aromatic.

These versions of spritz are delicious and also a perfect recipe for at home to impress the guests over that next bash you are hosting!
