Faccia Brutto - Aperitivo Liqueur (750ML)

This Apertivo liqueur is made using a 2-week maceration of organic gentian, quassia, star anise, allspice, kola nut, rhubarb root, orange peel, and salt, in neutral grain spirit. Has the lightness and breezy quality of Aperol, with a bitterness level of Campari, but all with a much greater herbal depth and more luscious spice component.

Our aperitivo is a bittersweet rendition of the classic “red bitter” but with more character. We infuse 17 fresh and dried organic botanicals for two weeks, including gentian, kola nut, hibiscus, fresh orange peel, and rhubarb root in non-GMO neutral grain spirit.  We strain and filter the resulting tincture and add organic cane sugar and cochineal to achieve the ruby hue we all love. Phenomenal in a Negroni, Americano, or on the rocks with a twist. 

Tasting Notes:

Nose: A complex blend of herbal aromas, with earthy chicory root, bright elderberry, and zesty orange peel, complemented by warm spices like cinnamon and star anise.
Palate: A harmonious mix of herbal bitterness from wormwood and gentian, balanced by the smooth sweetness of hibiscus, orange zest, and subtle floral notes.
Finish: A clean, slightly dry finish with lingering spice notes of cloves, coriander, and a touch of eucalyptus.
