Their story

35 Maple Street is the spirits side of the Sebastiani family's Sonoma business, now part of 3 Badge Beverage. Fourth-generation vintner August Sebastiani launched it in 2011, carrying forward a family habit of branching out, since earlier generations had added sherries, ports and grappas to the family winery.

To learn the craft, August and his team spent time in San Francisco's best cocktail bars, asking bartenders questions and figuring out what they wanted to pour. The first release was Masterson's Rye, named for Old West lawman Bat Masterson, who like the whiskey was born in Canada. Uncle Val's Botanical Gin and Kirk and Sweeney Rum followed.

How it's made

35 Maple Street works with established distillers and bottles in Sonoma. Masterson's 10-year straight rye is distilled from 100% rye in Alberta, Canada, and aged a full decade in oak. The range has grown to include wheat and barley whiskeys, gin and rum.

Why we carry them

Masterson's is one of the few 100% rye whiskeys on the shelf, and it is a great bottle for anyone who wants rye spice front and center in a Manhattan.
