Their story
Adernats is the label of Vinícola de Nulles, a cooperative winery in the village of Nulles in Catalonia's Tarragona countryside. Its members are local farmers whose families have tended vines here for generations.
In the early 1900s, the people of Nulles pooled their money and know-how into the Sant Isidre union and built a shared cellar. That building, designed by the modernist architect Cèsar Martinell, is known locally as a Cathedral of Wine and is still in use today.
The cooperative makes still wines and cava under the Tarragona, Catalunya and Cava designations.
How it's made
The winemaker works closely with the member farmers in the vineyards, including plots of old vines. The wines and cavas are made in the cooperative's historic cellar, where centuries-old vats are still part of the process.
