Their story

Amaro dell'Etna is a Sicilian digestivo that has been made since 1901, following a recipe from the late 1800s. It is produced today by Agrosan Sicilia, which bottles it in Augusta on the island's east coast.

The heart of the recipe is the volcano itself. Many of the herbs, flowers and fruits are gathered in the mountains around Etna, where the mineral-rich soil shapes their character.

It has been made in the Sicilian tradition for more than a century, and remains a familiar after-dinner bottle on the island.

How it's made

The blend uses more than 26 herbs, plants and fruits, including bitter citrus and orange peel, rhubarb and licorice, with many sourced from Etna's slopes. The botanicals are cleaned by hand, their aromas extracted and mixed with a syrup, and the liqueur rests for about two months before bottling at 29% ABV.

Why we carry them

We reach for this when someone wants an amaro that is bittersweet but never harsh. Citrus and licorice up front, a soft herbal finish, and great on a big ice cube.
