Their story
Brick & Mortar is the label of Matt Iaconis, a native Californian and UC Davis graduate. He launched it in 2011 in Napa Valley, where family connections helped him get access to fruit from respected vineyards.
The winery stays small and sells much of its wine directly. It has worked with sites from Atlas Peak and Spring Mountain in Napa to the Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley.
How it's made
Iaconis favors a light hand: whole-cluster pressing, native yeast fermentations and, for Pinot Noir, bottling without fining or filtering. Chardonnay ages in French oak, and the rose is made by bleeding juice off at the crusher.
