Their story
Brooks is a small winery near Amity, Oregon, run today by Janie Brooks Heuck on behalf of her nephew Pascal. It began with her brother Jimi Brooks, who started the label in 1998 after making wine at Maysara and WillaKenzie Estate.
Jimi died suddenly in 2004 at age 38, just before harvest. Fourteen winemaker friends stepped in to pick the grapes and finish the vintage, and the winery passed to eight-year-old Pascal. Janie, trained as an accountant, took over operations, and Jimi's former assistant Chris Williams became full-time winemaker in 2006.
The team has kept Jimi's original goal in view: honest, fairly priced Riesling and Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley.
How it's made
Grapes come from the Brooks estate vineyard, where some Pinot Noir and Riesling vines are over 35 years old, plus a vineyard in the Eola Hills and partner growers. The winery puts organic and biodynamic farming at the center of its work.
Our featured pick
Pinot Blanc (750ML)
$34.00
A vintage fruit set was like no other; the clusters were packed with flavor. Plush melon, yellow pear, starburst banana, and an orange citrus finish.

Why we carry them
We reach for Brooks when someone tells us they don't like Riesling. The wines are bright and food-friendly, and a great introduction to what Oregon does with the grape.
