Their story
Che Fico opened on Divisadero Street in 2018, led by chef David Nayfeld, who grew up in the East Bay and cooked at Eleven Madison Park and Mirazur, and partner Matt Brewer, who came from Chicago's restaurant scene. The menu blends Italian cooking with Northern California produce and includes a section devoted to Jewish Roman dishes.
The team later opened Che Fico Alimentari a few doors down, a market and trattoria where the kitchen's sauces, chili bomba, seasonal jams and house-cured salumi are sold to take home.
How it's made
The pantry line grows out of the restaurant kitchen, where pasta is made in-house and salumi is cured on site. Jarred tomato sauces, Calabrian chili bomba and seasonal marmellata are made in small batches.
Why we carry them
We love having a neighborhood favorite on our shelves. A jar of Che Fico sauce makes pasta night taste like a night out on Divisadero.
