Clos Bellane
High-altitude organic Rhône wines from limestone slopes above Valréas.

Their story
Clos Bellane sits on the hills high above Valréas, in the northern reaches of the Southern Rhône, with vineyards above 400 meters. Winemaker Stéphane Vedeau bought the estate in 2010.
Vedeau converted the whole property to organic farming, and it is now Ecocert certified. The range includes Côtes du Rhône Villages red and white, a rosé called Altitude, the Petite Bellane, and a small Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
How it's made
The vines grow on slopes of pure limestone at altitude, which keeps the wines fresh. In the cellar, Vedeau keeps extraction low, ferments only with native yeasts, and ages the wines in tank, concrete and large older barrels.

Why we carry them
We like the freshness these wines get from the altitude. The Côtes du Rhône Villages is a great everyday bottle with real character.
