Their story

Cook's traces its story to 1859, when Isaac Cook made what the brand calls the first American champagne. After World War II, Schenley Distillers bought the label and moved it to Fresno, California.

It has changed hands several times since, including a 1991 sale to Canandaigua Wine Company. Today Cook's is based in Ripon, in California's Central Valley, and remains a familiar, affordable choice for celebrations and brunch.

How it's made

Cook's starts with a base wine blend, then the winemaker adds yeast and sugar to trigger a second fermentation that creates the bubbles. The range runs from Brut to Extra Dry and sweeter styles, sold in full bottles and small single-serve splits.

Why we carry them

Cook's is our easy pick for mimosas and big parties. It is affordable bubbly that does the job.
