Their story
Cowhorn Vineyard & Garden sits on 117 acres in the Applegate Valley of southern Oregon. Bill and Barbara Steele bought the property in the early 2000s and built it into one of the region's best-known biodynamic estates, planting Rhone grapes in a corner of Oregon better known for its warmth than for Pinot Noir.
In 2021 the Steeles sold Cowhorn to a group of investors led by Katherine "Mini" Banks, who took over as general manager. The new owners committed to keeping the farm biodynamic. The estate also built what it describes as the first certified Living Building tasting room in the world.
How it's made
The vineyard is farmed biodynamically, with no synthetic chemicals and a focus on soil health. Plantings include Syrah, Grenache, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne, plus a small amount of Tempranillo.
Our featured pick
Spiral White Blend (750ML)
$30.00
A blend of Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne gives it a vibrant citrus and orchard fruit core, herbal hints, and stony minerality, all supported by crisp acidity and balanced texture.

Why we carry them
We like Cowhorn for showing how well Rhone grapes do in southern Oregon. The Viognier is a great place to start.
