Daphnis & Chloe

Small-batch Greek herbs gathered by trusted harvesters across Greece.

Their story

Daphnis and Chloe started with a bag of oregano. Evangelia Koutsovoulou grew up buying it from an older woman in the village where she spent childhood summers, and while living in Milan she shared some with a friend who kept asking for more.

That reaction sent her digging into Greek herbs, and after the financial crisis she moved back to Athens to build a business around them. Her shop sits on a leafy street below the Acropolis and Philopappos Hill.

The name comes from a classic Greek pastoral romance, a nod to the countryside where the herbs grow.

How it's made

The company works with harvesters in remote parts of Greece, many of whom Koutsovoulou knows personally. Herbs are packed in small batches, and each harvest reflects the weather and season it came from.

Why we carry them

A pinch of their oregano can change a simple tomato salad, and we think it is one of the easiest upgrades in the pantry.
