Their story
Frédéric Sigonneau and his wife, Charlotte, run Domaine de l'R in the heart of Touraine, on land that belonged to his family.
After formative time working in Spain, Frédéric came home and took over the family's original 9 hectares of Cabernet Franc, later planting Chenin Blanc as well. He sees the estate as a return to the family's roots.
How it's made
The vineyards are farmed organically, with mechanical weeding and only sulfur and copper used in the vines. Grapes are picked by hand once tastings and analysis confirm ripeness, moved by gravity, and fermented spontaneously in raw concrete or small steel tanks with no added yeasts or bacteria.
