Their story

Dumpling Daughter is the work of chef Nadia Liu Spellman, whose mother, Sally Ling, ran a celebrated Chinese fine dining restaurant in Boston starting in the 1980s. Nadia grew up around that kitchen and began making her own dumplings in a small apartment while working in New York City in her twenties.

She opened her first Dumpling Daughter in Weston, Massachusetts, and has since added locations in Brookline and South Boston. Along the way she wrote The Dumpling Daughter Cookbook and launched frozen dumplings and a bottled spicy sweet soy sauce so customers can cook her food at home.

How it's made

The menu and products draw on family recipes, including her grandmother's Beijing-style dishes. Dumpling Daughter makes frozen dumplings and bottles its spicy sweet soy dipping sauce for home cooks.

When I was in my 20s and working in New York City, I was in my small apartment trying to make dumplings.

Why we carry them

We love Dumpling Daughter's spicy sweet soy sauce for dumplings, noodles or a quick stir-fry. It is an easy way to add flavor to a weeknight dinner.
