Their story

Ercole is a collaboration between the importer known as The Piedmont Guy and a long-established cooperative of small family growers in Monferrato, the rolling Piedmont hill country often called the birthplace of Barbera.

The name is Italian for Hercules, a nod to the combined strength of the many growers who pool their fruit. The idea is simple: affordable, low-intervention Piedmont wine in generous one-liter bottles, made for the everyday table.

How it's made

Grapes come mostly from vines 30 to 50 years old on calcareous and sandy soils. Growers follow EU integrated farming standards, many are certified organic, and copper and sulfur are used sparingly. The wines are made vegan and bottled in one-liter bottles with screw caps.

Why we carry them

We reach for Ercole when we want something honest and easy to open on a weeknight. A liter of Barbera that tastes like Piedmont, at a price that makes sense.
