Their story

Fattoria La Rivolta is a family estate run by the Cotroneo family in the hills of Torrecuso, in the Sannio area near Benevento in Campania. The winery is housed in a restored 19th-century farm building.

The family works only with the region's own grapes: Aglianico, Falanghina, Greco, Fiano and Coda di Volpe, a variety that came close to disappearing not long ago. They also press a small amount of olive oil.

How it's made

The 60-hectare estate is certified organic, with about half the vines on espalier and the rest in old radial plantings. Grapes are picked by hand, and all vinification and storage happen on site, with a light touch aimed at freshness.

Why we carry them

We like La Rivolta for a clear taste of southern Italy's native grapes at fair prices. The Falanghina is a lovely white for seafood.
