Their story
Ocelot Chocolate is run by Matthew and Ishbel Broadbent, a married couple from Fife who now work in Edinburgh. They put their wedding gift money toward their first trademark and a tabletop tempering machine, and grew the business from there.
In 2022 they moved into a new factory and cafe on Raeburn Place in Stockbridge, where visitors can order hot chocolate poured straight from the melter. Much of their cacao comes from around Virunga National Park in eastern Congo.
How it's made
Ocelot sources cacao from eastern Congo near Virunga National Park, and its Femme dark milk bar uses beans from an all-women cooperative there. The Stockbridge factory was set up to make chocolate directly from the bean once its cocoa roaster was installed.
