Their story

Yuku Savi bottles agave spirits from Puebla, the lesser-known neighbor of Oaxaca in Mexico's mezcal country. Many of its releases come from Félix Jinez Macedas, a mezcalero working in San Luis Atolotitlán.

The brand focuses on single agave varieties, many of them wild or uncommon, such as espadilla, jabalí, pitzometl, candelillo and mexicanito. Each bottle names the agave and the maker, so drinkers know exactly where it came from.

How it's made

The agaves are roasted in an underground pit oven and crushed by hand or stone, then fermented and double distilled in small batches. Some bottlings note rawhide fermentation vats and clay pot stills, older methods still used in the region.

Why we carry them

If you think you know mezcal from Oaxaca, this is a good way to taste what Puebla does differently. Try two side by side to see how much the agave changes things.
