Their story

21 Seeds began in Kat Hantas's kitchen. She wanted a tequila that was smooth, simple and easy to drink, so she started infusing bottles with what she had on hand: cucumbers, jalapeños, oranges and grapefruit. She brought them to parties, and friends kept asking for bottles of their own.

Kat called her sister Nicole and their friend Sarika Singh, and the three flew to Mexico to find a partner distillery. Two sisters and one friend gave the brand its name. They launched in 2019.

The brand grew quickly, and in 2022 Diageo acquired 21 Seeds, one of the larger acquisitions of a female-founded spirits brand. The founders stayed on to keep building it.

How it's made

21 Seeds is made with a female-led partner distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. Blanco tequila is infused with real fruit juice and natural flavors in three styles, Valencia Orange, Grapefruit Hibiscus and Cucumber Jalapeño, and bottled at a lighter 35% ABV.

We saw women ordering tequila with soda and a splash of fruit juice, but no one was offering a tequila that already had those flavors infused.

Why we carry them

21 Seeds is the easiest shortcut to a great tequila drink. Pour it over ice with soda and a squeeze of lime and the cocktail is basically done.
