Their story
Dixon Dedman comes from a long Kentucky hospitality and whiskey line. His great-great-grandfather, pharmacist Charles Mortimer Dedman, ran one of Kentucky's early distilleries and the Kentucky Owl brand, which went dark around Prohibition. Dixon grew up running the family's Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg.
In 2014 he and partners revived Kentucky Owl, building its reputation for big, high-proof blends before it was sold to Stoli Group in 2017. In 2022 he launched his own brand, 2XO, short for Two Times Oak.
2XO releases come in a few series: one-off small-batch blends, single barrels, and an everyday Oak Series where batches are matched for consistency.
How it's made
Dedman hand-selects aged Kentucky straight bourbons from distilling partners, including a high-rye mashbill. He then gives the whiskey a second dose of new charred oak, either by re-barreling it or adding extra charred oak, which is where the Two Times Oak name comes from.
