Their story
The Ameztoi family has farmed vines and made wine around Getaria, a fishing town on the Basque coast, for five generations. Their winery sits in the Eitzaga neighborhood, with most of the vineyards looking out to sea over Getaria.
They own about 40 hectares and rent another 10, and grow only the local grapes: white Hondarrabi Zuri and red Hondarrabi Beltza. Alongside the classic white, the family makes Rubentis, a pink txakoli from both grapes.
How it's made
Fermentation uses the winery's own yeast selection, and the wines are kept in sealed stainless steel tanks at about 7°C to hold onto their natural spritz. The Rubentis rosé blends the two grapes in equal parts at the start, with a short skin contact before pressing. Alcohol stays low, usually around 10.5 to 11.5%.

Why we carry them
We pour Ameztoi when we want something bright, salty and a little fizzy. It is made for oysters, anchovies and sunny afternoons.
