Buffalo Trace Distillery - 'George T. Stagg' Bourbon (750ML)

George T. Stagg built the most dominant American distillery of the 19th century, during a time known as the Gilded Age of Bourbon. Uncut and unfiltered, this robust bourbon whiskey ages for nearly a decade and boasts the bold character that is reminiscent of the man himself.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Cherries and cinnamon up front, with only the slightest ethanol burn. Some fruity raspberry and strawberry jam notes, caramel and a hint of vanilla.

Taste: Hit’s you hard as any good GTS should but is subtler than others I have tried. Lovely waves of caramel followed by brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Toffee apples, cloves and tannins. I love it as usual.

Finish: Spicy with cinnamon, some dark fruits, creamy fudge and chocolate chips. Keeps coming back for more.

Additional Notes:

At 130 proof, the 2023 George T. Stagg offering was distilled in the spring of 2008, and its barrels were aged in Warehouses C, I, K, L, and M. This powerful 15 years and 4-months-old bourbon is described as having scents of cinnamon and cherry cola and a well-balanced mix of leather, chocolate, and vanilla on the palate, complete with a robust, earthy finish. Last season’s George T. Stagg placed 1st for the Best American Whisky in the 2023 International Whisky Competition.
